Women and Minorities-Addressing Climate-Smart Solutions (ACS2) is an innovative research, outreach, and mentoring partnership between UC Davis and Butte College.

Undergraduate researcher Kora Hermida, a 5th year Animal Biology major, is cataloging California Gall Wasps (Andricus Quercuscalifornicus).

We believe that an understanding of emerging and future ag careers focused on creating climate-smart solutions is essential if rural students are to participate in the new Agri-tech economy. Students from Butte College accepted into the ACS2 program will:

  • engage in summer research mentored by UC Davis faculty in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences,
  • join scholars from other summer programs in residence at UC Davis,
  • present their work in a community workshop near Butte College at the end of the summer.
ACS2 scholars also will receive a $5,000 stipend for the eight-week program.
